Can Can Concealment Classic Hip Hugger Holster – Tactical Tool Tuesday

On Tactical Tool Tuesday I will share with you a tool aimed at improving your life as a Woman Who Shoots. I’ll always give you my honest opinion, regardless of how I obtain the item. If you know of something you’d like me to review or discuss, please drop me a line or leave a comment below. today’s tactical tool is the Can Can Concealment Classic Hip Hugger Holster.

A few weeks ago, I told you about my favorite concealed carry bag. I also talked about the difficulties with that type of concealed carry. What should you use if you decide to carry on your person? What works best for making sure your pistol is safe and hidden from view but still accessible should you need to use it? I have by no means tried every option out there, and I am hoping you’ll share some others to try with me, but right now I am a huge fan of the Can Can Concealment Classic Hip Hugger Concealed Carry Holster.

Things to Consider about Concealed Carry on Your Person

As I’ve previously discussed, there are many thing to consider when determining how best to concealed carry. If you’ve made the choice to carry on your person, I think the four most important considerations are:

  • Is your pistol adequately concealed? Can it be seen while you are standing comfortably (known as “printing” or “painting”)? How about when you bend over? Ask someone to verify. You want to make sure you aren’t broadcasting to the world that you have a pistol on you. Depending on where you are, exposing your firearm can cause legal issues.
  • Is your pistol safe? Make sure the trigger is completely covered and any manual safeties aren’t in a position whereby your movement can result taking your pistol off safe. Most people carry in condition one (magazine inserted, round in the chamber, safety on). You can read more about that here. This means your safety could be standing between you and accidentally shooting yourself in the foot. I’ve heard that hurts.
  • Are you comfortable? I have yet to hear of a holster you can put on and completely forget you are wearing it. And that’s probably ok. You want to remember you have a loaded firearm with you at all times. You do, however, want to be able to perform your everyday activities. Can you load groceries in the car? Bend over to get something off a shelf? Walk quickly from point A to point B. Your holster needs to give you freedom to be yourself without worrying.
  • Why Choose the Can Can Concealment Classic Hip Hugger Holster?

Obviously, this holster fits all of the qualifications above or I wouldn’t recommend it. Truthfully, I purchased the holster before my concealed carry pistol. I fit the pistol to the holster. My research and a quick try on told me this is the best fit for me. First of all, it is super sexy. This holster looks good. If your partner or spouse enjoys the shooting sports, they will LOVE this on you. It is practical lingerie. Winner, winner chicken dinner.

    How It Fits

The Can Can Concealment Classic Hip Hugger Holster also fits really well. It fits close to the body and attached with hook and eye latches in 3 rows so it will fit on your skinny and bloated days. I’m no going to lie, it is a snug fit but you want it to be. The back of the holster is rubberized, which makes it grip to the skin nicely so it doesn’t move around. I wear mine low on my hips, so it has the Spanx-like effective of sucking me in a little.

    What Can It Hold?

Beyond being comfortable and making me look a little thinner, the Can Can Concealment Classic Hip Hugger is also really practical. It has 4 triangular shaped pockets, allowing you to carry in the front or the back, on the left or the right. Because I am right handed and prefer to appendix carry, I like to slide my pistol in the front, right pocket. You could carry up to four pistols if you wanted, but I struggle to imagine the appropriate place for that to be necessary or prudent. So you can use the pockets for other things if you want. It’s a good place to stash some cash.

There is also a pocket on both sides that is more rectangular and works great for holding extra mags or even your phone. I don’t use it for my phone as I don’t want to expose my pistol each time I want to grab the old iPhone.

    What to Wear With It

You can wear most things with this holster and conceal it well. I like it best with jeans and a loose fitting shirt. But it doesn’t need to be too loose. You can adjust the position of the holster on you body so the pistol can sit pretty low. When I have it on, I can see just the top of pistol’s grip above the waist band of my jeans.

I wouldn’t wear something skin tight as, beyond wanting to avoid obvious painting, you need to be able to access the pistol. So you want a shirt you can easily get under and pants in which it is easy to get your hand in the waist band. The good news is the cinching aspect of the holster gives you the room you need to wear most of your jeans without having to size up. I can wear it with skinny jeans with no issues.

Try it on with a few outfits and see what works for you.

    Material, Sizing, and Color Options

Most of the Can Can Concealment Hip Hugger Holsters come in black and tan. The black version has options for black, pink, blue, or purple trim. Some come with lace finish as well.

The holsters fit up to a 45″ hip size and you can buy an extender to give yourself an additional up to 5″. The smallest size they list is 29″. It is a pretty wide range and it looks like they are trying to find ways to accommodate as many sizes as possible. While I wear a size Small in most things, I did get a Medium in the Hip Hugger Classic as it fit me more comfortably.

The holster is made of military-grade elastic and edged with silicone Tacti-Grip. As mentioned above, the holster has three rows of hook & eye closures.

    What I Don’t Like

The Can Can Concealment Hip Hugger Holsters aren’t universal. You do have to be careful to choose the correct Can Can Concealment Holster. I have the Classic, which accommodates compact firearms up to 6.5″ in total length. They also have the Micro, which holds micro sized firearms up to 4.5″ in length. Finally, there is the Shebang, which not only has the best name, but will also fit firearms over 6.5″ in length. You want to make sure you get the right holster for your firearm.

The holster is warm. It is heavy duty elastic, lined with silicone, and is close to your skin. You will sweat under it. I don’t mind it so much but I can imagine I would get cranky in 100 degree summer heat. Some body powder can be your best friend in this case.

As with any concealed carry system, you need to be confident in your ability to get to the firearm in the event you need to use it. This is something every responsible person who carries will practice before taking on the responsibility of carrying in public. with the Can Can Concealment Hip Hugger, this can be a bit more tricky than other inside the waist band holsters because of the size and cinching factors. Be sure to verify you can quickly and safely get to your firearm when you first set up your Can Can.

Can Can Concealment Classic Hip Hugger Holster Overall Review

This is a great product. I talk about it often. In fact, just last week I was telling a lady at the gun store about it. She was wondering how best to conceal a small 9mm pistol and I suggested this immediately.

Then, the very next day, a friend showed me her Can Can Holster at the range. This product is so awesome and useful. And it is made for women and women’s bodies. Give one a shot if you haven’t. If you have tried it, what did you think?
